Bee-ware!!!!!
For at least the last decade, bee populations have disappeared from some regions.
Suck but still hopeful.
It seems researchers at the University of Toronto have identified a potential cause of Colony Collapse Disorder.
Abstract of the abstract:
Commercially-raised bees escape their greenhouses via the ventilation system (they musta learntit from the TV) and go on to contaminate wild hives in the vicinity with a parasite common to commercial bees but rare in wild bees.
These dudes modeled and mapped such a scenario.
Woot!
This seems a promising lead in identifying the causes of CCD and reversing the disappearance of bees.
Why should you care?
All yr veggies happen cuz honey bees make plant sex better than pretty much any other critter around. No bees, no food.
More enemies of bees.

Happy Birthday Mrs. Lewis!
So today is the anniversary of my lovely wife’s D.O.B. and as part of her present I got my Buddy System bandmate and all around buddy Lauren Gregg to paint a Lewis Fambly portrait. The resulting painting is far cooler than I could have imagined so I am sharing it here for all to see.

RED CHINA ALERT!! The Giant Birds are Coming!!!
As some of you know I spend a few hours a day designing tombstones and catalogs full of tombstones… Today while working on our new catalog I was editing a photo and noticed the scariest monument I have ever seen in the background.

It looks like some kind of evil Nazi propaganda statue for a fascist army of giant birds!
Keep in mind that our monuments are made in China and as such, this statue is in a warehouse somewhere in the Chinese mainland… someone call Lou Dobbs, I think the Reds might finally be ready for world domination!
And we thought the bird flu was the scariest avian threat coming from Asia.
We are fucked.
