July 2008Monthly Archive Here’s a postBecause I’m being chastised about not posting, here’s a post! This post is about how there’s no online multiplayer in Geometry Wars 2. Did you know there’s no fucking online multiplayer in Geometry Wars 2? I know! That’s totally fucking lame! My buddy Craig is all “Dude, this game rules!” and I’m all “Sweet! I’m getting it tonight and we’re gonna play!” and then the game is all “Plug in another controller, bitches! Ain’t no online modes over here!” The game sure is pretty though. And all the new modes are pretty great. And the high score table is- Goddammit! Somebody beat my score again. I have to go now. Tags: guilt, high scores, video gamesPosted by nick on 31 Jul 2008 at 10:14 pm Let’s get this bloggy started. For reals. So as Justin pointed out in his most recent post, there has not been a lot of non-Justin blogging activity going on here in Kindercoreland. I could rail on all of the people who asked me to sign them up as writers then seemingly forgot how to type… but I haven’t been posting either so that would be a dick move.
Aside from Kindercore and The Buddy System I designed the album art for Athens band and F.O.K. (Friends of Kindercore. ‘natch) A.Armada. The record Anam Cara is coming out this September from our friends at Hello Sir! Records - check it out, the album slays! In addition to all of that crap I have also been working with Jeff “I forget how to blog” Griggs and Nick “I screenprint all of the t-shirts in Athens” Canada on a plan to raise money for the Obama campaign by designing and selling a foxy line of Obama T-Shirts. The shirts were designed by me, will be printed by Nick and shipped out by me and Jeff. They are going to be printed on American Apparel shirts with the one color designs selling for $10 and the 2 color designs for $12. BUT here’s the best part… we are donating 25% of every sale ($2.50 and $3 respectively) to efforts to get Obama elected. We basically got tired of expensive shitty Obama shirt designs that donate pitifully small amounts to the campaign - this Gama-Go entry is excluded from that criticism. Obviously. Here is a little tease of the first wave of designs. The site should be up and running in a few days and we would love it if you could help spread the word when the time comes. Oh and here are those Buddy System dates: 8.14.08 Atlanta, GA - The Earl w/ Ruby Isle & Cryptacize Also I’ve been spending time with the wife and animals, reading too many comic books, playing way too much Civilization: Revolution for Xbox 360 and trying in vain to clean out the shed so I can start using it for screen printing and scooter parking. Yeah, busy but no good excuse for not blogging. I’m getting back in the game though, watch out! Top 30 Comic Book Movies 1978-2008 (not counting the Dark Knight)
it should also be noted that i quit regularly reading comics somewhere around the time that Preacher ended so my comic book list is largely devoted to the late 80s and 90s. Good stuff, but hardly complete. I know, I know. The internet isn’t big enough to withstand a chart of that magnitude. a new X-Files movie is coming out today. Why? i have no idea. the reviews of it are terrible, which is all well and good as i had zero desire to see it anyways, but on the flip side of that the SCI-FI channel has been showing classic episodes lately. and that got me thinking on my all time favorite episodes. 1. “Home”- aka the inbreeding mutants episode. the darkest, most fucked up, and disturbing episode ever. Fox refused to re-air it after the original broadcast because of the subject matter. 2. “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space” aka the smoking alien episode. the most hilarious episode ever. it sends up a ton of sci-fi movies, as well as references Twin Peaks, David Duchovny’s history of being in soft erotic movies, and it’s got Jesse Ventura and Alex Trebek as men in black. totally awesome. 3. “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose”- Peter Boyle is the man. 4. “Bad Blood”- Mulder kills a teenager he thinks is a vampire. the episode is told from both Scully and Mulder’s points of view and is one of the funnier ones of all time. Luke Wilson plays a bumpkin sheriff. 5. “Squeeze” & “Tooms”- the best X-files monster ever Eugene Victor Tooms aka the stretchy guy who eats your liver. you gotta love mutant cannibals who can stretch their bodies into weird long shapes so they can fit down chimneys and toilets. the first episode gave my little brother nightmares. 6. “Humbug”- the circus freaks episode. 7. “Ice”- a first season episode that is reminiscent of John Carpentar’s “The Thing”. where an alien parasite causes people to kill one another…or something like that. it’s been awhile since i’ve seen this one. 8. “The Host”- attack of the giant flukeman. one of the best monsters in show history. 9. “War of the Coprophages”- an homage to War of The Worlds…but with cockroaches. 10. “The Pilot”- it introduced this dorky show to a very young and very nerdy Justin Robinson. BATMAN verdict- republican SUPERMAN verdict- democrat THE X-MEN vital stats- outsiders, want us all to just get along, big on diversity, obviously would be supportive of affirmative action, big on dreams, harbor illegal aliens, outlaws. are hounded by the government as a threat. verdict- democrats THE PUNISHER verdict- ultra right wing republican IRON MAN verdict: republican CAPTAIN AMERICA verdict: Old School Democrat. the kind that don’t actually exist anymore. this is seriously the dorkiest thing i’ve ever blogged about.
